Tideline2005 runs on an industry standard, open-source configuration of Unix, Perl and MySQL.

Tideline2005 and Marketplace2006 have the same requirements and can even run on the same hosting account and share the same MySQL database.

They are developed and run well on standard hosting service from www.hostway.com. It should run on any webserver which supports the following set of features:
Server Requirements
 

UNIX

Developed on a Linux host running Apache. Tideline2005 requires:

  • cgi script to be set to run as owner of all files and directories so they can create and edit files and directories as needed.
  • cgi scripts have read/write access to files outside the www directory
  • cgi scripts have access to sendmail program
  • enough temp directory space for perl's Image::Magick code to be able to open and manipulate images
  • a SSL server to handle password signin forms, at a minimum

PERL

Requires a fairly recent version of perl and the following modules:

  • CGI
  • LWP::Simple
  • Time::Local
  • Image::Magick
  • MIME::Lite
  • DBI
  • DBD::mysql

mySQL

Any fairly recent version of mySQL should work fine.
Browser Requirements
 

JAVASCRIPT

Tideline2005 is heavily dependent on javascript. Browsers with javascript disabled will only be able to see basic text and pictures...via a search-engine compliant sitemap. Anyone wishing to post, edit or interact with the site's features must have javascript enabled.
 

COOKIES

You must accept cookies from your Tideline2005 server if you want to sign-in and work as editor. Cookies are also required to take advantage of certain features like "skins" and various map options to name a couple.
