Software Innovation of the Year
Microsoft Wizards

I invented the Microsoft Wizards concept in 1992 and received this award at Comdex in Las Vegas.

Walter Mossberg wrote in this Personal Technology column: "I was skeptical that Microsoft could make a really useful program that didn't require much of a learning curve...But Publisher strikes a masterful balance between powerful features and ease of use...The most innovative feature of Publisher is something Microsoft calls Page Wizards...With Wizards, even a new Publisher user can create a finished product in short time."

Microsoft Award

The Leonardo da Vinci Award
for Innovation

I received this award in 1986 for a series of innovations I developed for Microsoft's online tutorials. These computer-based tutorials were one of the first attempts to use the personal computer to provide online interactive information...which is what the web is today. My job title in those days was "Interactive Media Designer", which is what I am still doing over 15 years later with the websites I design and build.
