Editors decide who can post items directly to the live website and who has to have their items go through editorial review. If an item is posted that requires editorial review, it is placed on the "Review Board" and the Editor Alerts are updated to show this.
When items are awaiting your review, the Editor Alerts will let you know. Clicking any of the Editor Alerts for review will take you to the "Review Board".
THE REVIEW BOARD
The Review Board page lists all details about all postings that need review. You can use the options at the bottom of each item do several things:
1) HOLD. The default. The item will stay on the Review Board.
2) DELETE. The item is deleted.
3) OK. This item will become viewable by readers of your Tideline.
Once you have selected the desired option for each item on the review board, scroll to the bottom and choose the "Make Changes to above items" button. All items will then be processed as you indicated.
EDITING BEFORE OK
You can choose to edit an item before making it viewable. To do this, click the "or edit this item..." link for that item. This brings up an edit dialog. After you make your edits, the changed item will immediately become live and viewable by readers. It will not return to the Review Board.
WHICH ITEMS NEED REVIEW?
Editors get to choose which people can post directly to the live website and which need to have their postings go through review. Here are the rules:
a) Anyone not signed-in has postings go to review board automatically. It is not possible for anonymous public to post directly to a Tideline website. They can send messages to editors and subscribe to services...but not post content that others can view.
b) Signed-in editors always skip review.
c) Signed-in "basic staff" and "mid-level staff"" have all postings go to review board by default. However editors can change this. They can allow all of one level of staff to skip review... 0r just allow certain individuals in these groups to skip review. Use the "Security & Access" tool for group settings. Use the links on a staff member's profile page for individual settings.
Editor Alerts show how many items are waiting on the Review Board. Click the number of items to go there.
Each item has a set of options at the bottom. Choose one for each item. Then click the "Make Changes" button at the bottom of the page.
Editors can choose which groups of people can skip review using the "Security & Access" tool.
Editors can choose single "staff" or "guest" members to be allowed to skip review on their postings.
