Daily Editor Tasks · 10th October 2006
Tideline has a built-in messaging feature that is separate from email. Readers can leave a message for editors from any browser without having to use email. They do this using the contact commands in the Help & Options menu. Editors and other staff can also send these internal messages to each other. You must be signed in to see your messages.
When you have a messages in your "Inbox", the Editor Alerts will let you know. Clicking any of the Editor Alerts for messages will take you to your Inbox.
Each staff member has their own page when signed in. Use the "View My Page" command on the main menubar when signed in to go to your page. Each staff page has a personal profile tab and a "My Messages" tab.
Your Inbox is on your "My Messages" tab. It displays all messages open and ready for you to deal with. You can do several things with a message:
1) FORWARD. You send a copy to another editor or member of your Tideline staff. A copy will appear in their inbox.
2) ASSIGN. When you assign a message to another editor or member of your Tideline staff, the original message is moved from your inbox to theirs.
3) DELETE. Gone for good.
4) SAVE. Moves the message from your inbox to your "Saved Messages" folder. You only have one folder for saved messags.
5) REPLY BY EMAIL. If the person who wrote the message included their email address, you can reply to the person using email.
To view your saved messages folder, click the drop-down list at the top of your inbox. Then choose "Saved Messages". The inbox will be replaced by a list of all saved messages. To read a saved message, click its title in this list. A pop-up window will open with the message contents. You have the same options in dealing with saved messages that you have with new messages in your inbox.
SEND A MESSAGE
Editors can send messages to each other when they are signed in. To do this, click the "Send a New Message" link at the top of your messages folder. A dialog will appear that lets you choose who to send to and what you want your message to say.
